Good news Americans: Prius will soon be American-made. In 2010, Prius production will begin in the US–giving Americans more reasons to go ‘green’.
Since there is an increasing demand in North America, Toyota decide to bring its production to the US. Shortage of Prius units has already been felt in the US forcing buyers to pay an additional $3,000 over sticker price and wait for another three months.
While the demand for the Prius is increasing, sales of Toyota SUVs like the Sequio and Tundra have gone down causing Toyoto to stop their production as of August 8.
Aside from this change, Toyoto is also reported to produce solar-paneled Prius in 2009. Looks like ‘green’ cars are really in demand.
