Attracting more and more blockbuster titles such as as Sim City, Metal Gear Solid or Dance Dance Revolution it is getting harder to argue that the iPhone isn’t a good gaming platform. Plus: With recent announcements from leading game developers such as Electronic Arts, Konami, Namco or Paramount Digital, gaming on the iPhone is certainly starting to mature. Some developers are already making record profits with their iPhone entertainment apps. And with its relatively fast processor and 3D-capable GPU some insiders compare the iPhone’s specs even to serious consoles like the PS2 and Microsoft’s Xbox.
So no wonder more and more companies are bringing console-quality titles to the iPhone. The latest example is Namco, who released Katamari Damacy, a sleeper hit on the Sony PS2. Competitor Konami just launched a new website specifically for iPhone titles while Paramount Digital has a new game based on the hit Iron Man movie, called Iron Man: Aerial Assault. And gaming powerhouse EA has announced an iPhone version of SimCity.
According to the Redmond City, CA-based gaming pioneer, the iPhone version of SimCity is not a stripped-down mobile version but a full version of the hit game.
