CES 2009: What now for the auto industry?

ford fiesta eco-netic 2008 It’s only less than a month before the CES in Vegas and here we are thinking about what the show could mean for the automotive industry . Since last year, the economy has been in recession bringing car makers down the market. And alongside this situation is a decrease in auto-accessories and gadgets as well.

We’ve heard of gadget sales going down with car sales so it’s alright to assume that sales of automotive electronics are affected as well. But geeks and car enthusiasts won’t be stopped from going on a pilgrim to the CES, hoping they’d find a good deal or two or hopefully witness something new, perhaps to lift their geeky spirits.

Let’s see what Ford has in store for the CES participants when Alan Mullaly, President and CEO of Ford, will appear at the techshow . Will they be unveiling a solar car? Or maybe a hydrogen-powered vehicle similar to GM’s Cadillac Provoq showcased last year?

As the nation waits for a possible bailout, gadget town is also abuzz with what could be its impact to the industry, the US, and therefore, the world. It could be a bit scary for most of us but there is still hope at the end of this crazy tunnel. For now, let’s all hope that the CES will be good for all.
