Chemical engineers at the University of Nevada recently discovered that coffee grounds could be a rich source of bio-diesel since they are 15% oil. These researchers, according to Yahoo! Green even furthered that “their process could produce about 340 million gallons of bio-diesel from coffee world wide and that they could make about $8 million in profits just from Starbucks grounds”.
So Starbucks is more than just a coffee shop and a hang out place now. I just thought it does nothing but squeeze money from me. Finally, my fave coffee shop can do something ‘greener‘ for the environment.
