Nokia has always been known to be the number 1 in the mobile industry so it’s no surprise that they won the top prize at the Mobile World Congress. The top prize is the Outstanding Environmental Contribution award which was actually first given by GSMA this year.
Apart from this award, Nokia also received the Best Mobile Internet Service for their Nokia Sports Tracker. It was Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo who received the Environmental Award and gave out this statement:
“It is an honor to accept this on behalf of the thousands of Nokia people who have made sustainable, environmentally sensitive practices an integral part of our day to day business. With more than a billion people using Nokia phones globally, we feel we have a responsibility to make a difference.Environmental sustainability is not just the right thing to do, it is the only thing to do. I have long maintained that doing the right thing for the environment also makes good business sense.”
