Fire Department to save money by using SMS

Fire Department by you.Text messaging may destroy lives but most of the time, they improve the quality of lives of people. And why, using such mode of communication could be cheaper for most.

Take for example the firefighters from the Taylors Fire Department in North Carolina. Instead of receiving messages on their pagers, they requested to receive SMS. It seems like a good idea since it’s definitely cheaper, saving the department lots of money in a month. They could save about $4,000 a year or $345 per month.

Personally, I don’t think this is such a smart idea because sometimes, text messages get delayed. You don’t want to receive a message from the fire station two hours too late, do you? Unless mobile networks improve their text-messaging services and satellites, I’m not convinced.
