We’ve heard of a fire department relying on text messages before and now, few police and fire departments have started to rely on Twitter for their many activities. Seems like there’s no stopping Twitter in gaining popularity this year that even the enforcement agencies are “tweeting”.
Take for example the Milwaukee Police Department who is said to tweet about robbery surveillance, community improvements, missing persons, gang arrests, and homicide suspects. Even fire stations at Mesa, Arizona and Napa, California have chosen to use Twitter to receive alerts.
Of course, FBI will now be left behind as the FBI Press Office has started to tweet as well.
