Last week, the whole Twitterverse were abuzz with the Twitter War between @aplusk and @cnnbrk to see who would reach a million followers first. Larry King even joined Twitter last week and a few days after, Oprah herself registered @oprah and made her first tweet while on the show.
Engadget’s Ryan Block suggests that an “Oprah Effect” can be seen. According to him, about 1.2 million new Tweeples registered after Oprah did. At present, Twitter is estimated to have 5 to 10 million registered users but after Friday last week, when Oprah introduced Twitter on her show, a surge was seen.
These are just assumptions. Let’s wait until the guys behind Twitter send an official report.
