With companies in the print industry going down the drain, thanks to the not-so-generous economic situation, it comes as no surprise that Playboy is reporting a major decline in revenues and is re-strategizing to face the upcoming quarter.
The publishing company reported a $13.7 million net loss during the first quarter of 2009, more than 3 times the loss it took during the same period in 2008 ($4.2 million). Jerome Kern, the Intern CEO who replaced Hugh Hefner’s daughter who stepped down in 2008 said they plan to re-strategize by increasing the cost of the magazines, bringing out fewer issues, and a rate base reduction of $2.6 million. Therefore you’d see one issue every 2 months. Sounds fair to me, considering the company is pretty much in dire straits.
