We may not see a new iPhone at the WWDC 09

iphone, ad, apple by you. While everyone’s going gung-ho about the launch of a new iPhone at the WWDC 2009, popular analyst Gene Munster is of the opinion that we would not see any new iPhone being launched at the WWDC, and will in fact see an entirely seperate conference for the launch of the iPhone and different versions of it.

This may or may not be true considering Gene’s speculation is based on the fact that the press release only spoke about Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and the iPhone 3.0 operating system, but then again, when the iPhone 3G was launched way back in 2008 at the WWDC, there was no news of a hardware launch in the press release either.

Gene is also of the opinion that multiple models of the iPhone can be expected,  possibly a high-end iPhone with improved specs from the current version and a low-end version with lower capacity and fewer features along with a reduced pricing plan. Such a model could also be used in Apple’s launch of the iPhone into China as soon as the end of summer ‘09.
