Microsoft has been known for its infamous monopolistic endevours, and although it’s an image they have been working on changing for a while, looks like their efforts just went down the drain. And what is it that lead to such an effect? Well, the MS Internet browser software IE6 allows you to use only Bing as your default search engine, and will pop your screen with error messages if you try using anything else.
Now that’s not good news for Microsoft, is it? In my opinion, it cannot be a mistake. I am pretty sure there was brain and intention at play.
IE6 is also a warehouse of security issues and low web standards, and therefore another bug in the system is no big surprise. The problem is that a majority of internet surfers are still on IE6. Surprising, not a lot of them have noticed this issue, but faint cries can be heard around the web nevertheless.
Microsoft says it is a mistake, and that it will fix the issue soon. We would just have to wait and see. Untill then, happy struggling to stay off Bing!

Hi, just wanted to update your readers that the IE6 issues were a service-side issue that was fixed last night. Thank everyone for their patience and feedback!
Cheers,
Betsy Aoki, Microsoft
I just turned on my computer and there was a big emblematic “Bing” on the screen. I was so angry that I deleted all the microsoft junk I could find, including Bing. What a way for Microsoft to anger and irritate users, by literally dumping something on them like that. Take your Bing and keep it!
