Yesterday, we mentioned that Amazon now offers the BlackBerry Torch 9800 for $99 with a 2-year contract. What we forgot to mention was that the new pricing is down from the previous $199. Apparently, RIM decided to slash off $100 from the original price due to low sales.
Reviews say that it is the best BlackBerry RIM has released so far but still not better than the iPhone 4 and other Android handsets. Die-hard BlackBerry users may be happy with this unit but it may not convince others to be converted.
From $199 to $99 in a week is certainly not great news for RIM but good for those BlackBerry users who are thinking of upgrading their smartphones.
