If you’re looking for the greenest way to play console games, you should pick the Nintendo Wii.
In a report at the New York Times’ Green blog, the Wii console, compared to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 drew in just 13.7 watts on test playing Madden Football. Meanwhile, the PS3 consumed 84.8 watts while Microsoft’s XBOX 360 used 87.9 watts of energy. This means that a year of playing with the Wii would only use 29 kilowatt hours of energy while the PS3 would consume 179 and the xbox a whopping 184 kWh, comparable to the use of a TV set or a washing machine.
