American Airlines’ pilots to use iPad for navigation

American Airlines iPad

American Airlines is launching a new test program that includes an iPad. A new iPad app was developed for this purpose but of course, is more than special as it is approved by the FAA. The program will have the pilot use the iPad to help navigate the airplane by providing important navigational information.

This isn’t the first by American Airlines as the airline was also the first to provide tablet experience for the First and Business Class flight passengers not with an iPad though but with Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets.

The iPad for pilot for program is expected to save more than $1 million each year since the traditional flight bag is being replaced.
