The Toyota G-Station plug-in vehicle charging systems will be available this July in Japan. This means that electric vehicle owners in Japan can charge their cars at home with a smart-card recognition setup.
This is more than just a charging station as connecting the car also means connecting to the Internet. The Toyota Smart Center is then accessed enabling another access to telematics services. The program runs on the cloud computing-based Windows Azure platform.
Type A G-Station is priced at $3,469 making it the most affordable in the world charger with telecommunications capabilities in the market. Type B, on the other hand, is way more expensive at $55,549 since it is more advanced.
