Internet use on tablets, phones to surpass PC’s 4 years from now

Mobile Tablet iPad Internet Usage

Which do you think is widely used nowadays: Internet on tablets and smartphones or Internet on PCs? IDC, a market research firm, recently released a report that mobile Internet usage will surpass PC browsing in four years (2015).

Android phones, tablets, iPad, and iPhone sales and usage are predicted to grow about 16.6 percent each year. As mobile devices increase, PC use will decline as it is slowly happening now.

IDC also predicts that Internet users would grow from a couple of billion to 2.7 in five years starting last 2010. So by 2015, mobile Internet users could be more than two billion.

IDC’s Media and Entertainment Research VP Karsten Weide shared:

“Forget what we have taken for granted on how consumers use the Internet. Soon, more users will access the Web using mobile devices than using PCs, and it’s going to make the Internet a very different place.”
