Yesterday, Starbucks in the UK launched a new payment system for the patrons. Those with an iPhone or iPod Touch can now pay via their phones from a special app. I’ve always wished for something like this but our UK friends are lucky to have the new system implemented first on their side of the world.
About 700 Starbucks branches in the UK can now accept such payment for the drinks. With this, service is expected to be faster.
Brian Waring of Starbucks UK and Ireland shared that since customers want to use cash and be served quickly, the company created the custom-built payment system. It doesn’t utilize near field communication but just a mobile app.
