Facebook to invest millions, hopes to improve Internet speed in Asia Pacific

Internet in Asia Pacific is slow. Well, at least, in most of the areas there. But thank the heavens for top social network Facebook is about to invest lots of money to improve infrastructure. Together with other business groups, Facebook is investing about $450 million into the Asia Pacific Gateway– a 6,214-mile fiber optic undersea cable- that runs between South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan.

The project aims to send most of the traffic to America instead of going through Singapore which slows it down. Improvement of Internet speed in Asia won’t be experience until 2014 but at least Asia Pacific needs to do is wait.
