Munich-based phone manufacturer Gigaset is still making cordless phones. You may think landlines are no longer necessary because there’s the Internet and smartphones already but Gigaset’s latest offering is now “smart”. If there’s a smartphone, there’s also a smart landline. The new Android-based cordless phone is the first landline phone in the world to have access to Google Play and be able to download more than 600,000 mobile apps.
Gigaset CEO Charles Frankl announced that Gigaset will also be develop their own apps. This smart cordless phone is Gigaset’s first venture into the business of Internet-related products.
A Gigaset Android cordless landline phone starter kit will be available for less than 200 euros. Next year, Gigaset is going to its range of cordless phones by adding video capabilities to allow Skype and other similar messaging apps.
