[Post PC Era] We still need our laptops

Apple may have described the “Post PC Era” and may be succeeding a bit but let’s admit that we still need our laptops. Sure, smartphones and tablets may be the future, but for now and especially for the younger generation of students and the academe, using laptops or PCs is still necessary.

Say what you want but this isn’t the Post PC period yet. Tablets and phones can be exciting to use but in learning, Microsoft Word and other Office programs like PowerPoint, are important teaching materials.

Another problem of tablets and phones is the lack of USB ports. Some tablets have media card slots but they are not the standard just yet. Transferring of files through USB drives are more common today so it’s preferred by the majority. Cloud storage can be an option but privacy can be a problem.

Don’t think that the tablet is a waste of your money though. You can still take notes with it, display media, play games, and more. It’s not just our main machine today. Not yet.
