Here is another concept project that you might want to check out: the Nexphone. This one is currently on Indiegogo, a social funding website alternative to Kickstarter. When I first read the name I thought it’s a follow up to the Nexus phone but it’s actually a smartphone that can turn into a laptop or PC.
‘How?’ you may ask. Its designer Emre Kosmaz described this as “brain in your pocket”. You can dock this phone on special monitors, tablets, and laptops running Ubuntu or Android. Kosmaz and his team dream of having just one gadget that can do and hold everything and avoid synching.
This one is a great concept. I’m sure bigger tech companies have already thought about such but are just too afraid to lose money. You see, having one gadget that can do it all will eliminate the need for other devices, thus, no need to spend and waste precious bucks. Good for the people. Bad for businesses.
Pricing ideas for this Nexphone and other Nex-capable gadgets: $499 for the phone an dock, $149 for NexTablet Dock, @199 for NexLaptop Dock, and another $199 for a NexMonitor Dock with keyboard and trackpad. So if you’d get all, you have to pay a little over a thousand.
Fund Goal is $950,000. As of this writing, only $2,299 have been raised but there are still 59 days left to send your contribution.
