Better Than Sex: Social networks are better than love and smoking - this study

Believe it or not, social networks are more enjoyable than sex. This is according to a recent survey conducted at the University of Chicago. Of course, not everyone will agree but more people are tempted to check their social network accounts for new updates and comments as they are tempted with sex or smoking.

Wilhelm Hofmann, lead author of the study said:

“Desires for media may be comparatively harder to resist because of their high availability and also because it feels like it does not cost much to engage in these activities, even though one wants to resist.”

The week-long study involved 205 people betweens ages 18 to 85 years old. The study had these respondents to use smartphones to update the researchers about their cravings to check their social networks, as well as, for alcohol, cigarette, and sex among other gratifications. Hardest to resist is you guessed it right, checking Facebook or Twitter.

I think this is the case because social network communities are very accessible as compared to the other vices. But then frequency often tells the possibility of addiction.
