I find this interesting. Chinese PC makers and buyers of IBM’s hardware division Lenovo is setting up shop in the US. The factory is located in Whitsett, North Carolina. It will only be a smaller factory where custom PCs as specified by customers for corporate use will be manufactured.
The American Lenovo headquarters is near Washington, DC. This makes “Made in USA” computers more marketable because of the supposed quality which might result to more sales by Lenovo.
Majority of Lenovo computers will still be made in Mexico and China but this US factory makes custom orders more flexible especially for corporate clients.
So if Lenovo can do it, can Apple, HP, and Dell also set up factory here? What do you think?
