HTC is going to space with NASA. Yep, you read that right. The phone manufacturer’s very own Nexus One is being sent to the space in 2013 as part of the PhoneSat program. This space program is aimed to create small nano-satellites that are easy to make, small, and affordable.
This isn’t the first time a Nexus One will be used in space projects because NASA had already used the smartphone and tested it under different circumstances from vibration tests to thermal-vacuum chambers, to balloon fights, and was even used to record a rocket’s trip to the space two years ago.
I salute HTC for the Nexus One because even if it is an old model, astronauts and scientists can still use it for different purposes such as this upcoming space program.
