One million Sony PS Vita sold in Japan slow but sure

sony ps vita sales in japan

It took Sony ten months to sell a million PS Vita in Japan. For those watching the gaming industry, you may know that this is not good. Sure, it sold 300,000 units the first two days last year but you may remember that second week sales were found rather disappointing.

In the US though, Sony did better with 1.4 million PS Vita units sold by March earlier this 2012. We attributed the PS Vita success in the US because of the $50 million PS Vita marketing budget. The amount may be absurd but looks like it worked to the advantage of Sony.

Game developers still favor the Nintendo 3DS more than the PS Vita but at least, there is still a  fan base.

The Nintendo 3DS hit the 1 millionth mark within 13 weeks only so Sony’s sales report is nothing too impressive.
