If you’re one of the few people who have tried the beta version of Socl, then you might be glad to know that it’s officially launching. It first started as a social search experiment mainly for students and learning. It was first introduced only last October by the Microsoft Research Fuse Labs internally and a few universities in the US.

Looking at the website, the Windows 8 tile style is very evident. You can sign in using your Facebook or Microsoft account to create your own collage. I tried to sign in and create my own TechFever collage:

I did a search on “techfever” and I was shown different tiles containing old blog posts. Results were from Bing. It’s a social search site (which took me a while to figure out) that allows you to search people who have the same interests. You as a profile/account holder can customize how others see tiles of posts, photos, videos, and links about you or a certain topic.
Check it out for yourself HERE.
Honestly, I don’t know what Microsoft wants to accomplish here but this made me laugh.

What do you think of this SO.CL?
