His Excellency Pope Benedict recently joined the social media bandwagon with a new Twitter account. As of this writing, the @pontifex account has 368,892 followers. This news was announced by the Vatican yesterday saying that the Pope will start tweeting on December 12.
Questions on faith can now be asked using the hashtag #askpontifex according to the Vatican officials. They’re expecting to draw a lot of young people from the 1.2 billion followers of the Catholic church. It’s interesting to know how many followers the pope will gain after a few days. It’s only been a day and the number is nearing 400,000. We’ll see if the Popo beats Lady Gaga….
