In the near future, the world will see millions of NFC-capable smartphones. There are only a few models that have such feature but I believe that it will become more popular in the coming months. Qualcomm Atheros, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, wants to further the technology by introducing an ultra-low power NFC chip. The QCA1990 chip is expected to cut costs and save space because it’s very small compared to present chips being used.
Will Apple use this Qualcomm chip? No word on that but Qualcomm is positive that this NFC chip will have a spot in the smartphone and tablet market. We’re hoping too this will happen and see more phones equipped with Qualcomm’s NFC chips next year.
