It’s true. The biggest tech companies are on a shopping spree. Recently, Twitter acquired Trendrr. There’s also Yahoo buying IQ Engines. And not this: Google purchases WIMM Labs. Acquisition of smaller startups seems to be the trend now and I think such will do go to the many aspects of the industry.
WIMM Labs was into smartwatch so Google buying the group means it has plans to advance the smartwatch tech. The former is a 2-year old young company that makes use of Android running their devices. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it big but caught the attention of Google. Sales of devices were discontinued because they were partnering with a bigger group which turned out to be Google.
This year, the partnership has grown even deeper as Google buys WIMM Labs. No announcement of the plans yet but it’s obvious WIMM’s technology will be used on the future Google smartwatch. That or the new tech will be integrated into the Google Plass Project. We’ll see.
