The new Mac Pro has yet to be released in the market but Apple has already
shown off a RED version of it. It’s for a good cause and the RED Mac Pro designed by Jony Ive and Newson surprised the industry, even the guys at Apple, as it fetched almost a million at an auction. The Jony Ive RED Mac Pro was sold at an auction for $977,000. It was at Sotheby’s and sold for the benefit of The Global Fund. The organization aims to help fight AIDS.
It really came as a surprise even beating the $640,000 Apple 1 computer sold at the same auction before. This isn’t the first time Ive and Newson’s designs were sold for a high price as a custom Leica camera and a pair of Rose Gold Apple Earpods were sold for $1.8 million and $461,000, respectively. There’s also the RED desk sold at $1.8 million.
