Last month, we learned that TSMC would deliver A8 chips to Apple and not Samsung. The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company previously confirmed that production of the 20nm chip will be delayed, no thanks to a “specification issue”. Whatever that means, at least, we know that TSMC and Apple’s partnership will bring us the next-generation iPhone.

Production may be delayed but the set shipping date and announcement won’t be. A delayed start yes but actual production is believed to be fast with yield rate increasing according to a report. TSMC started production earlier this 2014 so Apple has enough chips to use.

If TSMC will keep the rate they are going and with more efficient, then about 20 percent of this year’s revenue will come from the 20nm products.
