Samsung Mobile CEO received $5.8-million salary last 2013

April 5, 2014

Steve Jobs only received $1 salary annually. The former Apple CEO was only one of the elite group of CEOs who receive such salary. We also know Mark Zuckerberg received such small amount. But that’s for them who don’t need more money. For some executives though, they still need millions. Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple, received $4.25 million last year. That’s higher than his previous year salary of $4.17 million.

As for Samsung’s J.K. Shin, the CEO and President of Samsung Mobile, last year received $5.8-million. That’s obviously higher than Cook’s. Nothing surprising here because Samsung is the biggest phone company right now if you are to look at volume of mobile devices.

Samsung wasn’t only generous to Shin. Kwon Oh-hyun and co-CEO B. K. Yoon also received high salaries amounting to $6.35 and $4.77 million last year.

What’s really surprising here is Samsung sharing such information. Disclosing the information came after South Korean regulations were changed some months ago. Samsung sharing such details seem good especially now that companies in Korea and their executives are required to detail their paychecks especially if they are more than 500 million won (about $470,000) annually. These information must be included on their financial reports and business filings are required.
