We all know that of all the consumer electronics manufacturers out there, one of the most respected companies for their motivation towards research and development and creating futuristic technology is Haier. This year at the IFA, their mission has been no different. Haier announced the opening of its newest research and development centre at Nuremberg, Germany that will be produce dishwasher products for the American, European, and Chinese markets. Considering Haier spends more than $60 million annually towards efforts like these, this is definitely a big announcement. Read more

[IFA] Samsung would never use webOS, says CEO

Oh, honey. Don’t expect that some company would just buy the webOS from HP and use it to their advantage. I don’t know what will be the fate of webOS after HP discontinued the system. To convince you that we won’t see the webOS in any device soon, Samsung’s CEO Choi Gee Sung said that the company would “never” buy webOS. He shared this with a group of reporters at IFA this week. [IFA] Boogie Rip eWriting pad prototype spotted

Boogie Rip eWriting pad

The latest in the Boogie eWriter series if the Rip. It was recently showcased at IFA complete with a microUSB port and a stylus.

The gadget is still a prototype but it works well now as demonstrated in the video. With this thing, you can record and save notes as PDF and then later on be accessed on your computer.

The Boogie Rip eWriting pad is set in charcoal color plastic but it is more sturdy than the previous model.

Samsung is certainly busy these days. After the new phones and tablets were introduced, here comes something unexpected from the company— a limited edition of Series 9 outfitted with crystals. Samsung didn’t just introduced the latest Wave phones, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and the Galaxy Note at IFA. Why, the company also showed off its possible iPod Touch rival—the Galaxy S WiFi 3.6. This portable media player or PMP is simply a smaller version of the Galaxy S 4.0 or the Galaxy Player. Read more

[IFA] Toshiba Outs Full HD Camileo Clip X200 and X400 Camcorders

Looks like Toshiba is outing an arsenal of new tech at this year’s IFA. Aside from its AT200 tablet, Toshiba also announced today two new camcorders ala Flip, the Camileo Clip X200 and the X400, which based on the name, shoots 1080p video clips and stores them on SD cards. The devices bizaarely don’t have internal hard drive storage but it compensates by offering 12x optixal zoom on the X200 while the X400 boasts a 23x zoom. Toshiba has yet to release information but the Camileos will be out fourth quarter of this year, at least in Europe. Read more

Aside from the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab 7.7, Samsung rolled out new Samsung Wave phones at IFA: the Samsung Wave 3, Wave M, and Wave Y. The new Waves run Bada 2.0 mobile OS and features TouchWiz, WiFi Direct, NFC support, multitasking, and voice recognition, as well as, the ChatOn messaging app we mentioned earlier this week. In Berlin, Creative announced a new media player. Yes, companies are still making them and Creative is still in it. Officially called as the ZEN X-Fi3 media player, this device comes with a tiny 2-inch LCD screen, 8GB or 16GB built-in storage, FM radio, speaker, built-in mic, and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.
