Ditching the need for an iOS device to pair it with, Nike’s Nike+ SportWatch now makes it lighter for runner or joggers to track their runs. Announced at CES 2011, the watch works with Nike+ accessory and uses a TomTom GPS which helps keep track of your running routes. It also computes your run time, distance, speed and best of all, the amount of calories burned for each run. Your run history will also be tracked and the watch is even smart enough to give you reminders when you haven’t been running in a while. When connected to a PC via USB, the watch will connect you to a community of more than 4 million Nike+ community members.

Google may have had bad luck doing business in China the past year but they are not pulling China out of their Google Maps service themselves. Instead, China may be the one pulling out its maps off the popular mapping service. Based on a legislation imlemented May 2010, online map providers are required to gain licenses from the Chinese government to operate legally. Unfortunately, Google has not yet submitted application for a license according to a spokesperson from China’s National Mapping Agency. The deadline falls on March 31. Read more

Sony recently rolled out new portable navigation devices: the Nav-U NV-U77VT, NV-U77V and NV-U37. Specs of the NV-U77VT and NV-U77V include the following:
The last model is the Sony NV-U37 which is described to be waterproof and comes equipped with an 8GB memory, 3.5-inch QVGA with 320×240 resolution, and a compact GPS. Unfortunately, this can’t play and audio or video unlike the first two models.

Aimed at field worker types like census people or for those in the medical field who need to operate a computer with a single hand, the Eurotech Zypad WL 1500 is a tiny Windows CE 6.0 (yes Windows CE still exists) machine with a touch sensitive 3.5-inch TFT LCD at a QVGA resolution with backlighting controlled by an ambient light sensor. You may not be able to play games that involve hitting pigs with feathered-creatures on a slingshot with this wearable computer but it surely does the simple tasks for the people the product is aimed at.
