Facebook is facing controversy today because of the Facebook Home ad and we just learned that the HTC First, the first Facebook Home phone, will be delayed. Looks like this will be the first and last Facebook Home. Why, UK mobile carrier EE shared that the smartphone will not be launching as planned.

What could be the reason? Facebook is believed to be shifting its focus to the software instead since the new feature isn’t perfect yet. No word when pre-orders will be shipped but Facebook is holding off the release indefinitely.

I don’t know anyone who ordered the HTC First. Did you?

Facebook’s official statement:

We’ve listened to feedback from users on their experience using Home. While many people love it, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback about how to make Home substantially better. As a result we’re focusing the next few months on adding customization features that address the feedback we received. While we focus on making Home better, we are going to limit supporting new devices and think it makes a lot of sense for EE and Orange to hold off deploying the HTC First in Europe.

I know someday that 3D printer will be the standard. It’s not popular yet because it doesn’t come with an affordable price tag, at least not yet. I can’t emphasize enough how useful a 3D printer can be but one infant named Kaiba Gionfriddo could be saved by it. How? Kaiba was born with tracheobronchomalacia, a rare condition of a weak trachea. A 3D-printed tracheal splint was suggested as a solution by the University of Michigan researchers.

The 3D printed tracheal splint will offer support to the baby’s trachea which will eventually be ready to stand on its own withing two or three years. Printed form used a polycaprolactone biomaterial which is said to be absorbed by the body.

Because of this project, the infant can now breathe on his own, no need for a ventilator.

An HTC One running Android 4.2.2.? Why not. The HTC One isn’t exactly a new phone but the phones available now run HTC’s very own Sense UI. A vanilla version of the HTC One is exciting for more Android features can be enjoyed.

We have no idea if Google will be selling the smartphone model on the Play Store or if it will allow mobile carriers to offer the HTC One under several phone plans.

If you think it’s time to cut off your landline connection, think again. There must be a reason why Verizon and now, US Cellular are offering home phone services. I can see there is still a demand as I need a landline phone more these days than I need my mobile phone for texting or making calls.

What we’re being offered today is a bit different though. US Cellular is offering a regular phone (corded or cordless) that can be plugged into a base station. That base station actually connects to US Cellular’s wireless network.

Unlimited voice calls are offered for only $19.99 per month. That may seem like an added expense to your household budget but it also includes E911, 3-way calling, call forwarding, call waiting, caller ID, and voicemail.

US Cellular’s PCD-made base station features a USB port, a couple of pohone jacks, QSC6055 chipset, and dual-band connectivity (800/1900 MHz CDMA)
