I salute Microsoft for coming up with a kid-friendly and safe web browser. You see, the software giant teamed up with British group CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center) to develop a safer version of the IE9. It’s the same web browser but now it features easy access to CEOP pages, thinkuknow.co.uk tabs, Bing, and a Jump List that allows the parents to set their children’s age groups.

Thank you Microsoft for the effort but it’s only available for Windows 7.

We’ve mentioned this already but it’s finally here: the LG 3.0 PRADA phone. The luxury smartphone was launched with two celebrities as the new faces of their global advertising campaign– Hollywood actor Edward Norton and model Daria Werbowy. Campaign photos were shot by British photographer David Sims.

This geek only knows Edward Norton because of his movie “The Incredible Hulk”. As for the model, she looks familiar but didn’t know her name until this collaboration.

The LG 3.0 PRADA phone features a 4.3-inch and 800-nit screen, full glossy touchscreen,Floating Mass Technology, 1.0 GHz Dual-Core, Bluetooth, and WiFi.

Most kids’ toys are battery-operated. For a parent like me, they are godsend until they run out of power and you have to buy a new one. Of course, you don’t need to buy new ones each time because there are rechargeable batteries nowadays.

The most popular today are the Eneloop rechargeable batteries by Panasonic. Just recently, the company has released a limited edition for Walt Disney’s 110th birthday.

Voice commands are fast becoming popular and I don’t doubt that such will be bigger. I don’t an iPhone 4S but I don’t need to know how fun Siri is.

LG is expected to launch a new handset. Nothing is official yet but looks like the LG Optimus Vu is for real. The smartphone features a 5-inch multitouch display screen, 5.3 aspect ratio, 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, microSD card slot, dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 8MP camera, 8GB storage, and 1GB RAM.

The LG Optimus Vu is believed to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread only.

Motorola is on a roll going after companies for patent infringement. We heard of the battle between Motorola and Apple yesterday and now, it’s with Google.

Google and Motorola Mobility are supposed to be partners but the latter still wants 2.25 percent of sales of XBox 360, Internet Explorer 9, Windows Media Player, and Windows 7 over two patents which are being used by the search giant on their Android phones.

RIM tried to join the tablet bandwagon but has yet to be a success. The hardware is great by industry standards but the software of the Playbook isn’t impressive. For one, the Blackberry tablet doesn’t have a native e-mail app which is actually basic.

The tablet somehow sold but that’s because of the few price cuts. RIM has finally decided to do an update and will showcase at DevCon Europe the PlayBook 2.0.

With the update, a BlackBerry phone can work as controller for the PlayBook. It will be part of the BlackBerry Bridge allowing you to use the phone as touchpad or keypad for the PlayBook.

RIM is set to release the software update later this month.

Chrome browser finally gets an Android version. It’s still in beta version but I think it’s good to use now.

Launched after the two years the main Chrome browser has been released, the Chrome beta for Android is compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 and higher. It runs on both smartphones and tablets.

The Google Chrome beta is expected to be speedy just the way the Chrome browser for desktop is also fast.

Android 4.0 users can download the Chrome beta is available at the Android Market for free.

You know how Samsung is with their recent ads taking a job directly at Apple. The latest one aired at the Superbowl was no exception.

The 90-second video once again showed Apple fans lining up outside what seemed to be an Apple Store but are later on were captured by a new Samsung phone which turned out to be the Galaxy Note.

The commercial didn’t really feature the awesomeness of the Samsung Galaxy Note. It just made fun of Apple yet again.
