Megapixels on cameras are important. They’re more appreciated if the scene is that of the whole universe. Well, not really the whole expanse of the universe but just this world that we live in. The highest-resolution cameras are used by NASA to take great photographs of whatever is in space.

Posted above is the highest-resolution image of the earth. It was shot using a 121MP camera and the infrared wavelengths of light played well resulting to the brownish parts which are actually the “greens” we usually see.

A couple of days ago, we mentioned that Panasonic’s profit was down last 2011. The company is believed to be going into large OLED HDTV manufacturing and this time, we learned that Panasonic and Sony are teaming up together to make OEL (organic electroluminescence) TVs. Okay, so no Samsung-Panasonic or LG-Panasonic deal only this partnership with Sony.

Both companies have almost the same fate of being down so maybe their working together will do them good. Hopefully in 2015, the commercialize OEL TVs will be worth the wait.

Apple has just been awarded 21 new patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. One patent is for a remote control that can be attached to a steering wheel. The image above shows that it looks like the infamous iPod clock wheel but this one is touchscreen.

Not enough information has been revealed about Apple’s steering wheel remote control patent but working on the project was a Frog Design designer. It can be noted that Frog Design and Apple work together in many projects so perhaps we can expect this to go public soon.

The remote control could be used with a portable media device so we’re thinking it connects over Bluetooth or similar connectivity.

We’re no longer in the dark as RIM is releasing the BlackBerry 10. Recently, we learned that RIM is filing a patent for flexible batteries built into the holsters. These batteries can give extra juice to your phone even when you’re mobile and there’s no electrical outlet available.

Not much details have been given but I’d like to see this go mainstream.

The next MacBook Pro excites me. We only have rumors for now of it having Retina display and getting thinner like the MacBook Air.

Another rumor has it that it will have USB 3.0 AND Ivy Bridge chipset. Because of the thin chassis, it can be considered as an Ultrabook so also expect no optical drive.

Apple is also believed to be retaining the Pro in the MacBook Pro name so as to keep the appeal.

Those anticipating for the One X and EVO 4G LTE smartphones by HTC would have to some more. Why, Sprint’s new offering were said to be delayed at the customs because of an ITC exclusion order. This order was courtesy of Apple and was given last December.

According to HTC, they are still trying to secure approval from the Customs just in time for the May 18, Friday launch. We’re hoping HTC gets approval and Sprint get to release the phones. We need more choices, you know.

I love IKEA. I can stay inside a store or browse the website for hours imagining how I want to decorate the apartment or my future house. My love for it even grew when it announced that it will be releasing an HDTV and home theater system in one called the Uppleva.

The Uppleva TV is pegged to be under $1,000. It can be customized from screen size to color to the cabinet that will hold it.

The Uppleva also comes equipped with a 2.1 audio system with a wireless sub, Blu-ray/CD/DVD player, 1080p resolution, built-in apps, 400Hz response time, and extra storage.

It’s got Internet connection too so you can enjoy TuneIn Radio, Dailymotion, Vimeo, and YouTube among others.

IKEA is expected to roll the Uppleva next year 2013 in the US and Europe.

A 24 year old Kenyan inventor by the name of Anthony Mutua showed his invention at his countries first Technology and Innovation week. The tiny chrystal chip when inserted into your shoe transforms your walk into a phone charging stroll. How this works is that each time the shoe’s sole bends it works with the chip to generate energy. This energy can then be used to charge your phone as it is generated or stored to do so later.

This technology can also be used on multiple gadgets at a time. But you probably shouldn’t try this unless your a frequent jogger or better yet an olympic sprinter.

It is also a very discreet little “shoe charger”, because it doesn’t require you to somehow strap your phone unto your shoe or buy a larger size so you can stick it in the back. Instead there is a long chord that can be ran up the inside of your pants discreetly..Unless of course your not wearing long pants. Then you may run the risk of looking crazy or a undercver robot with some odd power contraption running from your shoe to your pocket. (LINK)

Some of the gadgets created for use with Apple’s Tablet, the iPad are high on a scale of 10 on the amazement scale. This one should be given a 8.5 for going back in the past, taking an old school reciever and finding away to make it work with the iPad 2 or 3, not as a necessity while using the gadget; but as an added choice.

The Bluetooth Video Conferencing Dock for iPad turns your iPad into a video conferencing phone with an old school receiver via bluetooth connectivity. Who would’ve thunk it? All you have to do is place your iPad 2 or 3 onto the device synch them once and then you will be good to go to use them together whenever you desire. It would be fun to have a conference call using one of these weird little things.

That is, if your willing to pay the price. One of these babies goes for a “mere” $172. 95. Think it’s worth it? (LINK)

I’m a watch geek I love my watches quirky and yes, geeky. There are a number of iPod Nano straps we’ve featured already but nothing is like this. Oh wait, there are no straps! Why, Dave Hurban embedded four small magnets into his arm to hold the Nano.

This is very geeky and freaky at the same time. I don’t want any material get inside my skin so I don’t think I can do something like this.
