I know people who are looking forward to the HTC One Max and they might be happy to know that the extra-large phone will soon be offered by Sprint in the US. The smartphone recently passed through FCC’s inspections which really means it’s about to be released. The unit is said to be released officially this November 15, Friday. mehr »

HTC just introduced the Max One. It’s a follow up to the HTC Max but this one is categorized as a phablet because of its size. Smartphone now comes with a 14.99 cm wide screen, enhanced HTC Sense 5.5 interface, 1080p resolution, 16GB built-in memory, microSD card slot, and a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad core processor. Seems like it’s gloomier than ever at the HTC headquarters. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is going through tough times the past months. Last quarter it reported a net loss of about 74 million euros. Despite the mobile and tablet boom, market share of HTC isn’t improving. We mentioned that Beats and HTC’s partnership is about to end. Beats Audio reportedly bought back share of HTC in their company. HTC said they still hold 25 percent share and the partnership will go on as Beats Audio Technology will be found in the upcoming HTC One Max. mehr »
Microsoft isn’t done with the mobile industry. Even if smartphone and Surface tablet sales are far from Android and iOS, the software giant is still taking steps to advance the Windows phone market.
I fear for HTC because despite the impressive smartphone offerings, the company still fails to improve sales. The recent Q3 earnings report shows a net loss– a first for a quarter reaching about $101.2 million on a $1.6 billion revenue.
A couple of patents by Nokia are being looked at that could have been infringed by HTC. As a result, HTC is working with Qualcomm to find a suitable solution to improve transmission and reception. You see, Nokia filed a lawsuit against HTC last week in the US. If HTC doesn’t make any changes soon, some models may be banned from being imported. But then I’m sure HTC doesn’t want that to happen.
HTC recently announced firmware update for four smartphones: HTC the One X, HTC One X+, HTC One XL, and the HTC Buttefly. These Android phones can now receive the Version 4.2.2 of Jelly Bean which brings the 5th Sense UI.
If you own any of the models aforementioned, just check your phone settings under Menu > Settings > Abour Phone > Software Update. HTC warns that phone needs to have at least 40 percent of battery and phone is not loaded during the update.
HTC is one of those phone manufacturers that are doing well. It may not be as successful as Apple and Samsung but it’s thriving. Recently at IFA, this mobile specialist presented new colors of the HTC One family. There’s now Stealth Black, Glamour Red, Vivid Blue, and Glacial Silver as color choices. mehr »
